Wrestlers Who Died Under Suspicious Circumstances

Wrestling is an intense world where the athleticism
of the Olympics meets soap opera story arcs. There’s betrayal. There’s revenge. There’s ladders. And you’d better believe there’s amnesia. With all of this bombastic spandex in play,
it’s easy to forget there are real people inside these wrestling costumes, with lives
that sometimes become every bit as dramatic as the stories they’re paid to act out. Sometimes, all that intrigue comes to a head
with the untimely passing of a wrestler, leaving fans with more questions than answers. Steve Bradley Born Steven Bisson, the wrestler known as
Steve Bradley had a tumultuous career. He started wrestling professionally when he
was just 15 years old and would wind up working for Power Pro Wrestling and the WWF/WWE, feuding
in the ring with Savio Vega and travelling the world before being cut loose in 2002. On the morning of December 4, 2008, Bradley’s
body was found in a parking lot in Manchester, New Hampshire. The lot was adjacent to a wrestling school
he once operated, and there were no witnesses to his passing. Bradley had been indicted on possession of charges in the months before his passing, a not-infrequent twist in the lives of athletes
who suffer from chronic pain, but a cause has never been determined. Police cited no suspicion of foul play, and
the passing of Steve Bradley remains a mystery to this day. Espectrito II and La Parkita For the uninitiated, there’s a subsect of
luchador wrestling called Mini-Estrella, or “Little Star,” traditionally dedicated to
wrestlers with dwarfism. Two of the more prominent names in the sport
were Espectrito II and La Parkita, real-life twin
brothers Alejandro and Alberto Jimenez. Alejandro was especially popular, eventually
working with the WWF as “Mini Mankind.” After wrapping up a show in 2009, the Jimenez
brothers were escorted back to their Mexico City hotel room by a pair of pros,
where the two women laced the brothers’ drinks with eye drops. According to their later statements, they
only intended to knock the Jimenez brothers unconscious and rob them, but the dosage they
used was intended for much larger people. Both brothers were fatally poisoned, with
some questions being raised about whether their tragedy had anything to do with Alberto’s
recent interest in local politics. Bruiser Brody Even after 30 years, the deadly stabbing of
Frank Donald Goodish, aka Bruiser Brody, remains highly suspicious, in no small part because
it occurred in close proximity to his colleagues, and there’s still no straight answer as to
why it happened. It was July 17, 1988, in Bayamon [bah-yah-MAWN],
Puerto Rico. Bruiser Brody was prepping for a match when
he was approached by Jose Huertas Gonzalez, a wrestling colleague known as Invader 1,
who asked him to step into the shower area to discuss a business proposition. What happened next is unknown, but we know
Gonzalez stabbed Brody and that the crowd gathered for the event prevented paramedics
from arriving in time to save his life. Gonzalez pleaded self defense and was acquitted
of a crime, after most of the American witnesses didn’t receive summons to testify in the case
until after the trial was over. Shady business. La Fiera Little is known about the death of luchador
Arturo Casco Hernández, aka La Fiera. He was a second-generation wrestler, the son
of Hércules Poblano and brother to Ángel Poblano, both luchadors themselves. Arturo was probably the best known of the
three, having held a couple of belts before he went into soft retirement at the beginning
of the 2000s. And then on September 10th, 2010, he was found
dead in Mexico City. We know he was stabbed five times, and it’s
been speculated that he was attacked as a result of his rumored involvement with hard
drugs… but that’s about it. The truth has not yet come out. Abismo Negro Wrestler Andrés Alejandro Palomeque González,
aka Abismo Negro, was on a tour bus just after midnight in March 2009 when he started acting
unusual. According to witnesses, González suddenly
became panicky and demanded to be let off, despite the fact that the bus was in the middle
of nowhere. He got lost in the dark, and his body was
later found floating face down in a nearby river. It’s been speculated that Andrés was suffering
a steroid-induced anxiety attack when he exited the vehicle, but these reports were never
confirmed as his cause of death was simply listed as drowning. The Benoit family Seemingly out of nowhere on June 25th, 2007,
a superstar 22-year veteran of professional wrestling went from beloved icon to horrifying
monster. “Former champion Chris Benoit found in
his Atlanta home along with his wife and young son. Police now treating the discovery as a double
crime.” Over the next few days, it was revealed that
Benoit had offed his wife, Nancy, on the night of June 22nd, 2007. The next morning, he sedated and offed their
7-year-old son, Daniel, then eventually took his own life by hanging himself. Relatives blamed drugs and drug-induced paranoia. At 4:00 p.m. on June 25, the police arrived
at the scene of the crime. The news broke shortly after that. Or it would have, if the news hadn’t already
broken half a day earlier on Wikipedia. Hours before anyone supposedly knew about
the deaths of Benoit, the Wikipedia entry on Chris was edited by an anonymous source
to include a line about the death of Nancy. An investigation started immediately, with
the culprit eventually turning out to be a habitual Wikipedia editor who cited “rumors
and speculation” from other websites. People still wonder how that prediction was
so eerily right.

I havent watched wrestling in 20 years, but I watch enough crime shows to have heard about the Brody murder. What makes it even sadder, is that the arena, and Wrestling organization didnt want fans to know the truth about what had just happened backstage, so when paramedics arrived, fans thought it was part of the show, and yes…they blocked their path, got in the way, which delayed treatment for Brody's stab wombs, and did result in his death. 🙁 I just pray wrestling organizations learned from this tragic incident, and if something similar should happen in the future, they alert the audience, and give them enough information to get them to move the hell out of the way :-/
Chronic pain, an intense workout routine, steroid use, illegal drug use, and raging tempers?? Make for a bad combination that will eventually lead to death.

I remember La Parkita. I had no idea he died or had a brother.
I heardeye drops xan give a person diarrhea. In order for the eye drops to kill a person they would of had to put alot in there drinks to cause thier hearts to stop since eye drops are a vaso-constrictor. Unless their size was a factor in minimal amount killing them.

The Brody situation was heartbreaking. Watching him as a kid, he was hardcore before there was hardcore wrestling. Very influential.

"There are a couple of key factors that people don’t think about much.
The Wikipedia entry changed before the incident was released to the press by police.
He was found hanging from the steel cord of a weights bar. – this is the key suspicious entry in the whole thing.
To hang himself in the manner described he had to first lift the weight attached to the opposite end of the cord on the pulley system, – if he hadn’t removed this bar he couldn’t have tied or looped the cord around his neck. Equally, he couldn’t have raised the weight without the bar in place. The police report categorically stated that it was the steel cord around his neck and there were no ligature marks – if he had used another rope or strip of material attached to the weights there would be ligature marks. This is important. It means he would be holding the weight up on a steel cord with one hand, using his free hand to loop slack around his neck and tie it in place. Before letting the weight go and hanging himself.
Two problems here – One) he would have had to hold enough weight to lift him off the floor by a steel cord on one hand giving himself enough slack to wrap into place around his neck. Forming and tying off a steel cord like that takes two hands when it doesn’t have weight on it. – also try making a noose in rope with one hand.
Second) Not even the worlds strongest man cannot lift his own weight in the air with one hand holding the weight on a steel cord.
The final part. Going with the idea that he died by hanging rails. A steel cord holding enough weight to lift you off the ground by your neck and keep you there falls to the floor and either your head comes off or the cord cuts through the skin to the bone and you bleed to death.
Basically, the simple mechanics & physics requires prove he cannot have hanged himself."

Meaning at least two people had to set him up for the hanging position.

I cant believe nobody knows why bruiser brody was murdered when its rather obvious. Brody was from the era of territories, and was opposed to centralizing for national tv and threatened to expose the business several times. If that lex lugar cage debacle happened on national tv, wrestling wouldve died on the spot. Plus, if the invader lost in puerto rico, there wouldve been a riot. "Protecting the business" was way different in the kayfabe era, especially in puerto rico. Thats why carlos colon is in the hall of fame. Thats his murder, not invaders (yes i know it was invader who physically carried out the act), and that murder saved wrestling, believe it or not

Rev Wolf · October 16, 2018 at 2:43 pm

I'll never believe that Benoit did it. Yes, Benoit was intense. Yes, Nancy was a spitfire. But, he loved his son too much to kill him.

CamaroAmx · October 16, 2018 at 3:55 pm

Apparently fellow wrestlers received text messages from Benoit hours later and the day after he was believed to have died, but before his body was discovered. Also the fact that there was no indication that there were any issues happening within the family or with Benoit prior to the deaths. Also odd how Benoit waited hours between killing his wife and son and hours later to kill himself. There was also evidence that Kevin Sullivan (also a wrestler and Benoit’s wife’s ex-husband) had made various threats against the Benoit family and had said various negative things about them in interviews years after he and Nancy had divorced. All that adds up to something strange and many think there was more to the story.

For those who aren't familiar with Spanish, La Fiera translated roughly as The Fair and Abismo Negro means Black Abyss.

Jawn_life11 · October 17, 2018 at 12:41 pm

Benoit was framed. His family was killed and then the intruders murderd him to make it look like it was all his doing.

Elmos Mundo · October 17, 2018 at 5:08 pm

R.I.P. Abismo Negro

And Benoit family, and Parkita and Espectrito… Abismo Negro was at his prime with also hosting TV Shows in Mexico.

Ivader 3 killed Brody

Charles Kuckel · October 18, 2018 at 12:11 am

I remember hearing about the murder of Bruiser Brody and how Jose Gonzalez was involved. I remembered Gonzalez when he was mostly a jobber to the stars although he had a couple of good matches for WWWF at the Time. I remember Brody and him had a TV match where Brody got rough with him and bloodied him up in the 70's. I wonder IF the murder was some kind of payback.

The Chris Benoit murder / suicide was horrific. I remember VKM coming on TV in an empty arena talking about the situation, obviously before the truth came out, and announcing that archive matches of Benoit would play with interviews of his wrestling friends. Then the truth started to come around and people got distraught over the thought that he murdered his wife and his young son before hanging himself. Even the police who were interviewed at the scene said that they had problems wrapping their heads around the situation. I STILL get SAD and upset when it's mentioned either on TV or Internet.

2002 AU Fairmont · October 18, 2018 at 3:40 am

I still believe Benoit is innocent and there is no real proof to prove he did it

TraciPeteyforlife · October 18, 2018 at 4:36 am

staying the fuck out of South America and Latin America is a must. Way too dangerous. Fuck those assholes who murdered Brody. They are all going to hell.

You missed a huge chunk of the Benoit mystery. WHY DID KEVIN SULLIVAN KILL HIM AND HIS FAMILY?

Viva La Vivas · October 18, 2018 at 3:36 pm

What about the luchador ORO from CMLL? His death is very very strange and the circumstances around it. The opponents did something to him in my opinion. Watch the video.

Kristi Hogan · October 19, 2018 at 12:37 am

Benoit is innocent it has been proven before that he was dead 1st.

Always found the Benoit tragedy puzzling. Certain things just didn't add up to me. Mostly the timing of it all. Chris was scheduled to win the ECW Championship against CM Punk that Sunday. Also the long period of time between all of the deaths. You mean to tell me that Chris killed Nancy and Daniel then waited almost a full day to just off himself? That makes little to no sense. As someone explained, the physics of the suicide don't add up either. Sadly we will never know the truth because everyone just accepts that Chris did it.

Jonny Megabyte · October 20, 2018 at 7:54 am

Dino Bravo? Chris Adams? Ricky Lawless?
