Pay To Play With Tigers In 3D

Amanda and her two brothers, Arthur and Andre, were born in 1996 in New Jersey. This beautiful trio became known as the Texas Tigers at Big Cat Rescue. They were born with the intentions of using them as pay-to-play photo props and sadly, that is exactly what happened. At these facilities, cubs are ripped from their mothers at birth and are physically punished to diminish their natural behaviors. They are deprived of the mother’s milk that has disease preventing antibodies not found in bottle fed formula. Their sleep is also repeatedly interrupted for petting and photo ops which further lowers their fragile immune systems. Cubs can be used for petting and photo ops for about 12 weeks before they could take off a child’s finger. At this young age the cubs have underdeveloped immune systems, and there is no record keeping of how many cubs died. If they survive, they typically end up living in a tiny barren cage. The females are often bred unnaturally, soon after birth. In the wild they raise cubs for two to three years before conceiving again. This unnatural, repetitive breeding is believed to lead to reproductive cancers. Once they are too old to breed, they may be killed and sold on the black market for their lucrative bones, fur, eyes, whiskers, teeth, claws, and even their heads. It never makes sense to breed for more cubs just so that you can raise enough money to pay for the last year’s cubs. However, it happens all too often. In 2003, Wild Animal Orphanage in Texas took in 24 tigers from the facility. Unfortunately, many places forget to factor in the cost of taking in each cat, and a tiger has a big appetite. It was not long before they fell into financial troubles and by the year 2010, they were filing for bankruptcy. It took over a year and a half to find permanent homes for all of the cats. This was largely due to the cost – an average ten thousand dollars per year in food and vet care per cat. Amanda, Arthur and Andre were three very lucky tigers. An anonymous donor couple who had known these tigers as cubs stepped in to fund the rescue and ongoing care for all three who would be coming to live at Big Cat Rescue. Sadly, Andre and Arthur have passed away, leaving only Amanda. She will live the remainder of her life here at Big Cat Rescue in a beautiful home, her beautiful paradise where she is finally at peace, respected, and loved. I want to start a rescue sanctuary like big cat rescue but with other exotic animals along with big cats where we would inform people about the pet trade and to not support cub playtimes or other abusive activities.

The narrator's voice is so beautiful that it is like a double shock when she speaks of the cruelty these cats have faced. I am glad that Big Cat Rescue is there for Amanda and the others. It is easy to donate through Amazon Smile.

Eleonor S · October 4, 2019 at 10:47 pm

To me it's impossible to understand how anyone can fail to see that petting and handling cubs is nothing but harmful and cruel to them. Paying to touch babies against their will…Thank you Big Cat Rescue for educating people.

Why would they want tiger fur? Its rough and feels like a carpet. It's made to be water proof.
