Ghost Blade 1cc, Hard (Steam) player JAM

Ghost Blade was originally released for the SEGA Dreamcast in 2015. Ghost Blade HD is a 2017 re-release of the original game for STEAM and XboxOne. Apologies for the black side bars and the lack of wallpaper. This is because the replay was recorded on my HD arcade cabinet in 1920×1080 TATE mode. The game takes a lot of inspiration from the Donpachi series of games. It is not as challenging as the Donpachi games, but it is still a lot of fun. Ghost Blade HD is the first Euroshmup I have played to any great length. The game has some hectic visuals that can be distracting, but once you train your eyes, it is a solid shooting game. Ghost Blade avoids any gimmicky game-play, so it is just plain good fun. The alternative soundtrack is also very cool. In the first level I am trying to kill most of the enemies with my focus shot. This fills up the bomb meter. I’m trying to stock up on bombs in these early levels. On hard difficulty suicide bullets are a major obstacle. Boss battles in Ghost HD are very short. That sfx was the 2nd score extend. The game is generous in the 1st few levels with resources. A bonus life pickup here. It is very satisfying destroying enemies and watching the suicide bullets pop. The combination of cancels and suicide bullets is a lot of fun. I often have trouble with this boss, but I have plenty of bombs in stock. There goes the first bomb of the game. Bombs are a great defense when you get into trouble. The 3rd level is where things get busy. Suicide bullets really add to the stress. I dropped a bomb there to deal with the close range suicide bullets. Sometimes it is better to let an enemy go, because dealing with suicide bullets at close range is dangerous. The 3rd boss is the easiest one. The trick is to stay to the right. I take out the silver turret, and leave the one on the left unharmed. I can now sit in this channel until the boss dies. I am still on my 1st life, but I doubt I will get through this stage unscathed. Those blue bullets coming across the screen can catch you out. I got stuck in the corner there, and I had to use a bomb to get out. I died, it was a silly mistake, and I still had bombs in stock. I am panicking a little now, and dropping too many bombs. The 4th boss is probably the hardest in the game. Every shooting game has to have a giant tank boss battle! Another life lost, I really should have dropped a bomb. I like to take out the spheres as soon as possible. The 5th and final stage is quite short. Oops, that was dumb, but at least I had no bombs in stock. Those rotating blue bullets were just too hard to deal with. The final boss! The trick in this part is to ignore the turrets at the top. I was a little late with the bomb there, so I caught a bullet in the face. 2 lives and 4 bombs should see me get the 1cc, so long as I don’t make any more silly mistakes. I am on my final life now. There is the 1cc! Ghost Blade HD is a fun game. It was a welcome break from the Japanese shooting games I usually play. It has inspired me to check out some other Euroshmups and Indie titles. My arcade cabinet is not connected to the Internet, hence the failure to post my score on the online boards. Thanks for watching.
