heartbreaking day for the Miami Dolphins one of their players is in the hospital tonight after losing an arm it's a tragic turn of events for 22 year old Kendrick Norton he was drafted in the seventh round by the Carolina Panthers last year and was competing for a spot on the Dolphins roster tonight he's at Ryder Trauma Center and that's where we find cbs4 Joan Murray live with the latest Joan well it is still unclear at this point what caused Kendrick Norton to crash on the highway about 1:20 this morning he was brought here to the hospital where he's been treated ever since and his agent is confirming that it was a catastrophic injury 22 year old Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick norton's NFL career on hold after a devastating early fourth of July boarded crash after playing for Carolina Norton signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2018 his agent a frequent contributor to cbs4 sports took to Twitter with heartbreaking news on the Jacksonville native with sadness I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident and suffered multiple injuries including the amputation of his arm we ask you continue to pray for him his family also asked the public respect Kendricks privacy [Applause] Florida Highway Patrol said Norton was on the 836 early Thursday near the Palmetto Expressway entry when his Ford f250 collided into a concrete barrier wall and subsequently overturned a Maserati was also involved in the crash but that driver did not sustain any injuries running the Dolphins late last year Norton was a standout player for the University of Miami Hurricanes their coach posting on Twitter the you family is praying for Kendrick his family and the medical professionals helping him all day a steady stream of friends and players have made their way to the Ryder Trauma Center in a statement the Dolphins said we were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton I thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time Florida Highway Patrol says this crash is under investigation the hospital said they will are not releasing any further information on Kendrick Norton now we do know when this crash happened there were many people on the highway and many people did stop to render aid including two off-duty Miami Beach police officers at the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami tonight Joan Murray cbs4 news

Find comfort in that he didn’t lose his life. Kendrick is part of the ‘Canes family, and we’re all hurting right now. Hope he’ll be giving a chance at a coaching career. The journey is not over, just a slight detour.
