Corona Scare, Sarah’s Play and our Bro Blizzard | Life in Japan Episode 44
Listen Becca and Anna, I’m not sure if this is really going to happen or not, but… Abe san, who’s the prime minister — it’s like the president of Japan… Last night he said he wants all the schools to be cancelled from Monday all the way until school starts again [April] (gasps) Schools going to be cancelled?! Probably from getsuyoubi kara (Monday on) (Squeals) Hi! Did you hear our crazy news? (Grandma) That you don’t have school? Well, they do today, but as of Monday it’s cancelled. Do you think they’ll just pass everybody and just go on to the next year? Um, we don’t know what they’re going to do, because, like, supposedly they’re cancelling all the graduations and everything. Kiss grandma! Ah! There she is! 3, 2, 1 Jump! Anna! Is it a crazy thought or what…
Cool thought! …that we have to bring everything back today! Everything! Yeah, you might have to bring everything back today.
I know. It might be a month until you go to school again! I know!
Yea, you guys aren’t disappointed about that, are you? We’re happy. I don’t need to do any more tests! I still have like 50 more tests! Yeah I know, it’s just kind of crazy. So now today we’re going to be working with our Paz team to be able to [live] stream the events this weekend. So people don’t have to come in but they can watch it online And if you’re interested, I can put the link down below. I’m actually going to be sharing this weekend about a place of security and refuge that we have in uncertain times. So it’s a really good message for everything that’s happening right now. You’ve been waiting a long time for this day — what day is it today? My play! The day of your play — your last Youchien (Kindergarten) performance! We’re on our way now, huh? We’re going to head in. Are you taking selfies while we’re waiting? Hey dude! Tons of selfies.
Tons of selfies, huh? Got to pass the time somehow. Let’s see. Which ones did you take? Can you show me? Oh – you going to take one of me? Oh – here it goes!
Oh, Sarah’s program! (Music) Wasn’t it so good?! Look – there’s Sarah. Do you see Sarah? So Sarah — it was so good! Was it so much fun?
Yeah. You did a good job! No more — no more plays. No more plays for youchien, huh? (Imitates crying) Sorry the window’s so dirty. Yeah really. Here’s our beautiful window. The rain’s turned over to snow. That’s a good sign — for skiing at least. OK – we’ve made it. And we’re going to go skiing. These guys are seeing snow for the very first time — right? Is it the first time in person?
Yes. From Israel — how cool is that? Say your names again so I can get them just right. “Elona” Nadav
Nadav, that’s so cool. And Isaac! Isaac — I have seen snow. Isaac’s a pro to this ski thing. Eventually, you will get more comfortable and go from side to side… (In Japanese) Masaki, are you ready? Ready — I am ready.
(In Japanese) Now we’ll ski. Yes!
Yes. We are ready to do this. We’ve got a GoPro up here today, pretty cool. Dang! That’s pretty cool.
That is pretty cool. Whew! Yes! (In Japanese) Fun! Whew who! Alright!
Let’s go Isaac, do you want to do a backflip in front of the camera for me? You’re going under?
I’m going under! Can you do it? I can’t! Ah! I think my backpack got caught. Maybe it did.
Ah, did it? Yeah, I think so too. Oh! Oh no! Oh my goodness! Did you get it on camera?
Oh yes. I think so. Dude, I saw that ski go flying over and I was like “Oh no!” But it stuck right there. There you go, Isaac. Whoa! This is crazy right now, I can’t see like anything. It’s all white. Whoa, Dude! Way to go. I started slowing down there, I was, like, I can’t [see], it’s just so white! This is such a weird sensation. Just watch this jacket! Hey! That’s good! (In Japanese) I missed you guys! We had an awesome day out there skiing, even though it was really hard to see. So now I’m going to go get a coffee and enjoy some sitting down time here. Coffee milk. So! (In Japanese) Everyone good? Genki! (Good!) How was your first ski experience, guys? It was amazing — good.
